Sakshi Tanwar Plays Grim Role On Upcoming Series 'Mai', Check Out The Trailer Here

A new web series on a mother trying to decode the reason behind her daughter's death while juggling the emotions of losing a daughter, Mai trailer has been released today by the streaming platform. The trailer shows Bade Acche Lagte Hai fame Sakshi Tanwar in the grimmest light and situations fighting for her family.

The trailer begins with Tanwar's character asking her daughter, "Gudiya, kya hua hai (Gudiya, what happened)? Hum saab thik kardenge (We will make everything okay)." While she is trying to persuade and give assurance to her clearly terrified daughter, a truck hits her daughter and kills her. Initially, everything is taken as an accident but slowly plot surfaces and secrets come pouring out.

The trailer shows a transition in Tanwar's character from a woman in a saree with makeup and jewellery, it shows her loose everything. The trailer begins with intensity and is driven by darker frames, it ends with an equally fierce Tanwar killing someone with a rod, which explains the blood on her hand in the series poster.

Mai Trailer Release

It will be an interesting watch to see Tanwar in a role this grim, wherein not only is she trying to find the truth but also beating a system that expects her to sit back with the hope of getting justice. There is a scene where she is tagging along with a police officer trying to figure out the case and he says, "you are a woman from a well-to-do home, why are you getting yourself involved in this situation."

In the two minutes and ten seconds long trailer, one can see that she hardly pays any heed to the police officer and despite everyone telling her that she is not an investigator, she continues her search for truth, even if it involves a bunch of men with violent crimes history.

The show is created by Atul Mongia and directed by Anshai Lal and Mongia. The main cast includes Raima Sen and Wamiqa Gabbi, along with Tanwar.

It is produced by the Clean Slate Filmz, which is a production house run by Anushka Sharma and her brother Karnesh Sharma. But recently Anushka stepped down from this role to pursue acting more. However, last year, Sharma had shared the announcement of the series on her social media and wrote, "Oh, Mai! What happens when a docile, 47-year-old wife-and-mother finds herself accidentally sucked into a rabbit hole of violence and power? WE WILL SOON FIND OUT."
