Sony Pictures have announced Equalizer 3 Release Date on April 20. It was speculated that the film starring Denzel Washington will come out sometime this year before Sony moved the dates. In an earlier interview, Washington was quoted saying, "They have written the third Equalizer, so I'm scheduled to do that. So, I got to get in shape and start beating people up again. I get to beat people up again. The tragedy of Macbeth and then going and beating some people up. Can't get any better, right?"

Reportedly, it is not known yet if the first two Equalizer writer Richard Wenk is involved in the third instalment of the franchise or not. Moreover, the details about the film are also kept under wraps. The director of the franchise films, Antoine Fuqua told in an interview in 2018 that he was interested in an international adventure. "In my mind, there's a European adventure, absolutely. In my mind, that's what I'd like, to see him in Europe, in the future. God willing," Fuqua told Collider.

Denzel Washington and Antoine Fuqua collaborated in 2014 and delivered the first Equalizer film which was released with decent reviews but tremendous worldwide box office success. Gauging at the same, the sequel was released in 2019. It was Washington’s first-ever follow-up film he worked in. The film reportedly received a lukewarm critical reaction but similar box office success as the first film.

Equalizer 3 Release Date

The third instalment of the vigilante action film will hit the screen on September 1, 2023, the production house announced on April 20, Wednesday. Equalizer 3 marks the fifth collaboration for Washington and Fuqua who have worked on films Training Day (2001) and The Magnificent Seven (2016) prior to the series. Fuqua’s training day, fetched Washington his second Academy Award.

Sony also announced new release dates for other films. The much-anticipated sequel to its animated superhit Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse has been delayed. The film titled Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will now release on June 2, 2023, instead of the original date: October 7, 2022. While part one will release next year, Across the Spider-Verse part two is scheduled to arrive on March 29, 2024.
