There aren’t many female animation artists in the country. Yet. Charuvi Singhal is one among a very small and talented group. Her craft on the life-size structure of Hanuman made of bells baffled every one the last time when it was on display in Select city walk, Saket in Delhi. Charuvi is now back with another one of her exhibition titled- Hanuman: Images beyond Imagination. It is being held at IGNCA (Indra Gandhi Centre for the Arts) from 10th April and goes on till 30th April 2017.

Through her art, she wants to ‘remould preconceived notions’. About her inspiration, she told SheThePeople.TV, “The idea emerged from the context of remoulding preconceived depictions. And use mediums that revolve around the keywords of space, context, scale, behaviour, interaction and drama. I also feel that art specifically shouldn’t just belong to a class of elite especially a figure such as Hanuman and so I wanted to make something that engages the viewer directly.

Art can also be an outlet to express an artist’s views and for Charuvi, “Art in every one of its form influences popular culture and tends to cast it’s reflection on our future. Our society for long has been patriarchal and somewhat misogynistic. To correct this and to promote the capability and audacity of a women, art must reflect a modern contemporary version of feminism.
