We, at SheThePeople, have always been enthusiastic proponents of the need to develop and encourage a reading culture, and a community that encourages reading for pleasure as well as learning. To further this objective, we're delighted to launch the SheThePeople Book Club, where we hope to bring together people from diverse backgrounds and interests, bound together by their love for books and reading.

Joining us for the Session on 3rd August is Sagarika Ghose who is an Indian journalist, news anchor and author. She has been a journalist since 1991 and has worked at The Times Of India, Outlook and The Indian Express. She was the deputy editor and a prime time anchor on the news network CNN-IBN. She would be discussing her new book "Indira: India’s Most Powerful Prime Minister "
India’s most formidable politician, she was someone who dominated our political narrative and forged a cult of personality so deep that we still feel the reverberations today. Indira Gandhi loomed larger than life for much of India’s post-independence history. On the centenary of her birth, renowned journalist and author Sagarika Ghose takes a look back at Gandhi; delving into not just the wily political animal but the woman with a complex private life.

The SheThePeople Book Club will sift through the many books that get published every month and put together their recommendations for the books of the month. Through online and offline events with readers and authors, we hope to put forward the most anticipated books, as well as books that perhaps don't get the kind of visibility they should.

As the organizers of Women Writer's Fests across India, we are committed to bringing forth the voices of women writers, the various issues they deal with in their work and we hope to be an interface between writers and readers. Welcome aboard, and here's to a great journey together through the wonderful world of books.
