In this edition of Bombaywaali, meet the dynamic entrepreneur, Pooja Shetty Deora. A graduate from Purdue University, she joined her father Manmohan Shetty, the pioneer in bringing the Multiplex revolution to India, and was instrumental in establishing and developing India’s first and largest IMAX dome in 2001 at Wadala, Mumbai. She was named a Young Global leader by the World Economic Forum in the year 2008. Venturing into film production with Adlab Films, she has produced movies like Rita and Tere Bin Laden. Rita (2009) went on to win much acclaim, and Tere Bin Laden (2010) was the first Bollywood movie to beinvited to be screened at the Friars Club Comedy Festival in New York. Pooja has also been instrumental in launching ‘Imagica, India’s first Entertainment destination’ in 2013. We will be chatting with Pooja about her journey, the learnings, doing business in India, staying ahead in the cutting edge world of entertainment, her kind of cinema and more..
