Dipa Karmakar, Sakshi Malik And Alia Bhatt In Forbes’ Under-30 Achievers’ List
India is progressing and here’s the proof… This year’s Forbes’ list of super achievers from Asia — under the age of 30 — has over 50 Indians enlisted. They are being heralded as the flag-bearers who are “pushing boundaries of innovation”. Among them, notable names are — Gymnast Dipa Karmakar, Olympic medallist Sakshi Malik and the very versatile actress Alia Bhatt.
Forbes has released its second ’30 Under 30′ Asia list 2017, featuring 300 young entrepreneurs — in categories including entertainment, finance and venture capital, retail, social entrepreneurs and enterprise technology – who have risen to incredible progress in their field of work and are pushing the boundaries of innovation.
“While she didn’t win a medal, she ranked an impressive fourth on her first-ever Olympic outing, missing the bronze by a hair’s breadth – 0.15 points,” Forbes acknowledged her Produnova vault performance in the finals. She is one of only five gymnasts to ever successfully do so.
Fellow sensation from Rio Olympics (2016), Sakshi Malik, brought home India’s first medal in women’s wrestling. She is also the first Indian female wrestler ever and the fourth female Indian athlete to win an Olympic medal.
Forbes appreciated Sakshi’s hard work and dedication for the sport as she had to face major opposition when she decided to pick up wrestling as a career choice in the small-town of Rohtak. Sakshi was just 12 years old at that time.
Alia (24) has proved her mettle time and again through her acting prowess. She deserves the tag of being the most versatile actress of her generation. Alia has acted in over 20 high-grossing Bollywood movies, with at least six of them collecting well over $15 million worldwide in opening weeks.
Other prominent Indians who feature on the list are Srikanth Bolla (25) founder of Bollant Industries, Trisha Shetty (26), founder of SheSays, Sharath Gayakwad (25), India’s first Paralympic swimmer, coach and Arjuna Award winner.
The youngest Indians on the list are brothers Sanjay (15) and Shravan Kumaran (17), who founded GoDimensions, a mobile app development unit, five years ago.
We couldn’t be prouder!
