Indian women are now being recognized on the global platform. After many being listed amongst the top businesswomen and most powerful women, a report by NDTV Profit has revealed that two Indian CEOs have been listed amongst the Foreign Policy's list of 'The Leading Global Thinkers of 2014.’ No Indian women were featured in this list last year.

Biocon Chairperson and CEO Kiran Mazumdar Shaw and SBI Chairperson, Arundhati Bhattacharya featured on the list, under the ‘Moguls’ section. According to Foreign Policy, a division of the Washington Post Company, Mazumdar made it to the list "for insisting that good healthcare shouldn't break the bank" and Bhattacharya, "for telling hard truths about India's debt."

The report also stated, "This year, Biocon launched CANMab, a breast-cancer drug 25 per cent cheaper than its nearest competitor. In India, where around 1,50,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer each year, Biocon's drug should significantly expand access to lifesaving treatment."

Adding, "In July (Ms) Bhattacharya called out the newly elected leaders of the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for their proposed policies on debt forgiveness, and she has suggested (politely) that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government turn away from waiver policies. Yes, she admits, this would benefit her bank-but it would greatly benefit India as well."

Both the women are considered as one of the most powerful women in the country, and by gaining recognition at an international stage they have bought immense pride to India. Mazumdar Shaw funds an affordable cancer-treatment center, backs a health-insurance program for rural dwellers, along with promising to donate three-quarters of her $1.2 billion fortune to charitable causes.

Bhattacharya on the other hand, has been making efforts to improve the banking system in India by encouraging the government to discourage loan waiver policies that lead to bad debts and macroeconomic inefficiencies, according to the annual survey.
