At 5 she is capable of doing what most grownups don’t dare. Cherukuri Dolly Shivani proved that talent knows no age. On Sunday, the archer prodigy Shivani scripted history by firing 103 arrows from a distance of 10 metres in just 11 minutes and 19 seconds with a compounding bow and Indian arrows. With this, the young archer has registered her name in the India Book of Records and the Asia Book of Records.

According to ANI reports, the five-year-old prodigy didn’t stop there.

She went on to attempt her second feat by releasing 36 arrows from a distance of 20 metres in a record time of five minutes eight seconds and scored 290 points out of 360.

“Performance of Shivani was outstanding and an archer in her teenage cannot do the feat done by Shivani. It was difficult to score 250 in 20 metres event and she easily achieved it. It was a big challenge for her in this age and we appreciate the efforts of the Volga Archery Academy for their training,” says B. Shravan Kumar, an official from Archery Association of India, Deccan Chronicle reported.

Her brother Cherukuri Lenin was also an international archer and coach. However, after the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games, he lost his life in a road accident. After the fateful incident her parents, Cherukuri Satyanarayana and Krishna decided to opt for surrogacy, and Shivani was born in 2012.

Shivani’s father received the Asia Book of Records certificates on behalf of Shivani. And, social media couldn’t stop gushing over her:

Shivani currently trains at The Volga Archery Academy in Vijayawada. And she is all set to participate in the 2024 Olympics.

“Shivani will be 13 when the 2024 Olympics will be held. Our target is to prepare Shivani for the grand sporting show and we need a top-class coach to teach her the advanced techniques. I want Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to take note of the request and do the needful,” her father Cherukuri Satyanarayana told The Hindu.
